The Nuclear Industry Association has welcomed Ed Miliband’s comments backing new nuclear to “provide clean power and good, unionised jobs for workers.”
Labour’s Shadow Energy Secretary was speaking at a visit to Hartlepool nuclear power station yesterday, paying tribute to the people of the town for their “incredibly committed workforce which is helping to power our country.”
Reacting to the comments, Tom Greatrex, Chief Executive of the Nuclear Industry Association said:
“I welcome Labour’s commitment to deliver new nuclear for the UK. Towns like Hartlepool know what nuclear brings to the table: good, skilled jobs, investment in local businesses and clean, reliable power for people across the country. Securing the future of these sites, by safely extending their lifetimes and delivering new nuclear projects, is vital if we are going to support communities, get to net zero and bolster our energy security.”
